CA law effective July 1, 2024 enforces Workplace Violence Prevention Plans for all employers with limited exemptions.
EXEMPTION FROM SB 553
(WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION PLAN)
“Places of employment where there are less than 10 employees working at the place at any given time and that are not accessible to the public, if the places are in compliance with Section 3203 of Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations.” - California Labor Code section 6401.9
This means that employers are exempt from the Workplace Violence Prevention Plan requirement under SB553 if:

The employer has less than 10 employees at any given time (this includes seasonal hires) where the workplace is not accessible to the public IF the employer has implemented an Injury Illness Prevention Program (Section 3203).
