Overtime for Agricultural Workers

When will agricultural workers receive overtime pay on the same basis as all other industries?
Agricultural workers at large employers (26 or more employees) will receive overtime pay at a rate of one and one-half times the employee’s regular rate of pay after 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a workweek beginning January 1, 2022. Agricultural workers at small employers (25 or fewer employees) will receive overtime pay at that rate starting January 1, 2025. In addition, workers will begin to receive double the employee’s regular rate of pay after 12 hours in any workday beginning January 1, 2022 (for large employers) and January 1, 2025 (for small employers).
Schedule for Changes to Daily & Weekly hours after which Agricultural Workers Receive Overtime Pay

Annual Employee Pesticide Handler Safety Training Requirements for Field Workers Trainings will take place the following dates:
The training is being held by Agricultural Production Safety. Each year all employees that handle any pesticide including rodent baits must go through training on the safe handling of pesticides. This includes anyone that will be involved with these chemicals including mechanics. Respirator Fit Testing will also be done. Your employees must bring their own respirators. If we fit tested the person last year, no medical documentation will be needed. If it is a new employee, we need a doctor's recommendation to be brought with the employee to the fit testing.

As food and agricultural employees at risk of exposure at work, we fall under the COVID-19 Vaccine 1B Tier 1.The vaccine is currently available only in hospitals and long-term care facilities, these individuals are part of the phase 1A group. There is no exact date to when the vaccine will be available to us, however many sources have stated it is expected to have enough supplies to vaccinate most Californians in all 58 counties by summer 2021. If a county has maximized use of the vaccine to administer individuals in Phase 1a, they should move to Phase 1b, Tier 1 while continuing to offer vaccines to those in higher priority groups.
